Goals for the year:
- Expand students' knowledge so they will feel confident discussing a variety of historical topics.
- Improve research and analytical skills by exploring how the past has shaped modern ideas and issues.
- Construct thoughtful and compelling arguments on various historical topics.

授業の進め方・学習方法

Students will be using The Earth and Its Peoples: A Global History as the primary text for this class, but there will also be other supplementary materials. Much of the class will be project- and discussion/debate-based. Students are expected to contribute to their discussion group and to the class. There will also be oral presentations and written assignments, which must be submitted by the deadline unless prior arrangements have been made with the teacher. Assignments that are more than 24 hours late will not receive any credit.

Complete all the assigned reading prior to class. Be prepared to discuss your thoughts and ideas with your peers. Don't be afraid to ask questions or make mistakes - we are here to share our ideas and learn from one another. I hope this will be an enjoyable year for you that will inspire you to continue looking for historical themes beyond the classroom.
