This course uses natural science as a context to develop intermediate reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills in order to increase fluency in English and prepare students for future coursework, such as writing thesis and articles for preparing presentations.

This class will help you develop your writing, reading comprehension, as well as listening, speaking and critical thinking skills; it will also help to further develop your vocabulary and note taking skills.

授業の進め方・学習方法

Activities in class will be content driven and the methods in which the content is studied will be wide ranging from student led activities, such as group discussions and presentation preparation, to individual research and study activities.

Assessment in the class will consist of both formative and summative assessment; formal and informal. Students’ skills of reading and writing will be assessed each term through written essays, presentations and participation in group discussions and activities.

The important thing to remember about this course is that you will be primarily graded on your written ability rather than your spoken ability.
