Student goals for this class will be to:
1. Recognize short-term and long-term patterns and make connections between historical events and time periods.
2. Improve research and analytical skills by exploring how the past has affected and shaped modern ideas and issues.
3. Construct thoughtful and compelling arguments on various historical topics.

授業の進め方・学習方法


This class will introduce students to major historical events and eras, moving from the 13th century to the modern era. Students will analyze and interpret primary historical sources in depth and develop their written and critical abilities to better understand the lessons gained from the study of history. In addition to quizzes, in-class writing assignments, and homework assignments, students will be assigned a presentation project each term for which they will receive an individual grade as well as a group grade.
