In this Earth Science course, students will learn about the history of the Earth and develop an understanding of the changes and processes that take place on geological time scales. The nature and movement of the atmosphere will be explored, as well as the influence of human activities on the Earth. Students will also be introduced to the science of astronomy, where they will learn about the insights and knowledge that can be obtained by studying celestial objects.

This course will be delivered through a combination of lectures and laboratory experiments. In general, there will be two hours of classes and one hour of labs per week. Student progress and understanding will be assessed via homework assignments, in-class quizzes, research projects and lab reports.

We are going to cover a lot of new material this year. The pace of class will be fast, and the volume of information you have to retain will challenge you. Do your best to keep up, study a little outside of class every day, and ask for additional explanations of help if you need it.
